The motor scooter is a 2007 Chinese Roadrunner I-Scooter. With a new battery the turn signals flash and the horn sounds properly. It starts with the switch on the first turn. It has a generator. However the battery goes dead. It only kick starts then. The lights are dim and the horn barely makes a sound. The lights brighten a small amount with speed. However the horn and the trun signals still do not work properly. Suggestons as to the problem and the fix.

Under what conditions does the battery go dead? If it goes dead when it isn’t running, something is using juice while it’s not running and your job is to find out what that is. If it’s going dead over time, the thing isn’t charging the battery. It’s not rocket science but it does get confusing.

Check the connection to the battery. Sounds like either it is not getting a charge from the generator OR the battery itself is faulty and needs replacing. A car garage can tell you.

It seems as though the generator isn’t working too great. If the motor will run with the battery disconnected, then you know that it works. If it dies, then the generator isn’t putting out well enough to run the engine, let alone charge the battery.

Believe it or not, if the generator idiot light on those things burns out, the generator won’t run. The Chinese build vehicles about as good as the Yugoslavians did.
