What is wrong with my 49cc motor scooter’s electric start?
out_of_exile asked:
I have a 49cc motor scooter and I am having a problem with the electric start. I turn the ignition on, hold to back brake and press the electric start and all I get is a ticking sound. It will not start using the electric start, only the kick start. I’m thinking it could be either the battery, electric start assembly or the starter relay. How can I test to find out what is wrong?
Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks!

I study abit of motorcycle so let me answer abit.
Does it has the cranking sound when you try the start the vehicle? If yes, it would be a weak battery. If there’s totally no cranking sound, other components may be at fault.
Since you say you hear ticking sound, could it be the “spark plug”? It’s best to have another motorcycle to change the parts around to rectify the problem. Try changing the spark plug from another vehicle.
