Here's the deal, sport. You get what you pay for. Vespas are probably one of the best, Honda, Yamaha, Suzuki, and Kymco are also good. Chinese scooters are a crap shoot. I have one, and it's been a strong runner with no problems for over 2 years. There are horror stories about Chinese scooters. Never buy one on-line, always make the dealer register it. When you start dropping below about 1,500 bucks, you're taking more of a risk. 150CC is the absolute minimum you should consider, and regardless of what anyone tells you, or what kind of bogus advertising you read, 150CCs is good for no more than 55 miles an hour and at the most 70 MPG if you never ride it wide-open or up hills. Don't waste your money on a 50CC scooter. They are absolutely no good for anything but about 30 MPH. Basically they're mopeds with no pedals.

Kymco People S200

If your objectives include freeway travel, don't consider anything under 250cc.

I have a Milano, probably one of those "Cheap Chinese" scooters. I like it, and haven't had any problems. But after the one year, would probably wish I had a 250 cc. I don't care what anyone says, a five gallon container at what $17, far out weighs filling up my SUV. At over 3300 miles, it has already paid for itself. Oh, about 75-80 MPG.
