What does one need to legally drive a moped?

To ride it on the street a motorcycle license is required in most states you would have to call your local drivers bureau.

in florida all you need is a valid drivers permit, the the moped is 50cc or under

Get it registered by the Department of Motor Vehicles. Check with DMV to see if you need a motorcycle license too. I don’t think its smart for 17 year olds to be driving a moped but I guess it depends where you live.
