What do I need for a 250cc motor scooter in maryland?

I am interested in purchasing a 250cc motor scooter. I live in Maryland. What kind of license do i need to operate one? What is the fastest that I can go on the road? Am I allowed to go on highways? Will I need insurance and registration?

   motorcycle license,anything usually over a 150 cc,you can go anywhere,and can maintain 55 or maybe 65 mph,but remember,the smaller the bike on interstate,the longer the trip,the more the wear,short ,you will have more break downs on chains,tires ,etc,plus wear the motor out faster,hope this helps

   In Maryland anything over 49.5cc you will need a motorcycle lic. and to drive on any highway, IE 95, 495, 295, ect. the min. size of bike that you can drive on highways in maryland is 250cc. if your cought they WILL site you and possably impound the bike.

   in addition you will need to register your 250cc bike tags title and insurance, you will have to be able to keep up with the posted speed limits as well, and since it is 250cc’s you can ride it on all roads and highways.
