Motor scooter engine trouble?
Premium001 asked:
I have a 150 Avanti motor scooter...starts and runs good untill it get hot! The starts cutting out and missing...and is very hard to get started again..and keeps dieing. Dealer has replaced plug twice and adjusted carb to a richer setting..to no avail. Is it a gas flow problem or a spark problem? Seems the worse after pulling a steep hill. Any one have any suggestions?

Try rejetting the carb to a bigger jet.Is the air filter clean? Are you at a higher altitude? Is the exhaust stock? The plug could be a step or two in the hot range.Check the float adjustment to make sure the bowl is full.

Check intake and exhaust valve lash on a cold engine. Insufficient clearance may be causing improper valve seating and loss of compression.
Sometimes hard to detect, but also check carb to head manifold for cracks and suction leaks . . which would cause a too lean running condition.
