Is it possible to make my moped go faster?
Brandon C asked:
I just purchased a Honda Elite S year 2000 motor scooter/moped. It only goes up to 25 but the speedometer says 35. Is there any way to take the governor off or something along those lines?

I had a friend years ago who put a small motorcycle engine on his moped and did it fly due to the moped being so light compared to a motorcycle..

damn thats a slow moped well i guess not but i dont know much about mopeds and the speed. You could put a smaller sprocket on it the would give you more speed but then then your acceleration will not be as good. i still dont know how much more speed but it all depends on how much teeth the new sprocket has.

take the restrictor plate out in the muffler, you will get about 10 mph faster, better gas mileage, and you can pop wheelys:)

No. It is physically impossible to make your moped go any faster at all. You are at the theoretical limit of the speed of a moped. Don’t even try.

f=ma a=m x power lose a few pounds
if you weigh 200 lbs now go on a diet till you hit 125 pounds…you will go faster due to the reduction of load.. fill the tires to 40 lbs/sq in, duck down when you ride,reduce your air resistance, wear tight leather unstead of flapping cotton;decreases drag. I have hit 35mph on a moped before;its not impossible:))

Use gasoline that has a better quality and add more oil to the gasoline.Put more oil on the wheels so they can rotate better and some on the chain.With these things added to your bike your bike should go faster at least by 7 MPH!!!

Yes you can increase your speed on your honda moped. First off, you can get a hotter plug, these are at most auto part stores and are fairly cheap. You can remove your air filter, thats right, take it out. Since K&N do not currently have one available, besides, your air box will keep most large debri out. You can move up to a larger wire spark plug wire, to increase spark. Go with super premium, and remove un needed weight. i. e. Plastics under seat, battery tray cover, etc. No it will not let you go 50mph. But if you remove the baffle in the pipe and increase air and spark, while removing excess weight, (that means your weight too) you can hit 35. I’ve personally seen it.

Brandon, I am a big person, so I won’t comment on your weight. So lets deal with your problem. For safety reason, let’s leave the Restrictor on the bike. Now, take the bike into a Shop and ask them to upjet your Carb to give you an additional top end of 10 -15 miles per hour. You could also replace the rollers in the CVT with lighter rollers (have the shop to do it…PLEASE). The rollers will take care of Low end (reaching top speed faster). The parts are really cheap…cheap…cheap… now the labor should not cost over $100.00, but then it depends on the intergrity of the people performing the work. Take this write up in to your shop and they can explain it better. Always ask for the parts taken off your bike after a repair.
This will work,
Now get going!!
