I’m 12 and I want to get a motor scooter for my birthday. My Daddy said you have to have a license to drive one. Is that true?

In most states you need to be 16. Though in some you can get a moped licence at 15.

So in other words, your dad is right.

This may vary from state to state.
Use your states postal abbreviation with a .gov
such as wv.gov and follow the links to find out what is and what is not required.
I think in most cases your dad is right.

You will need to check with your local department of motor vehicles for licensure requirements. These will vary quite a bit depending on your location.

However, you may be able to operate an electric assisted bicycle.

When I was 10 years old, I road my Honda 70 minibike all around for years and had sooo much fun. So i totally understand where you are coming from. =)

I did a little searching for you. I found this website, mind you, I’ve never purchased from this website. Read the description of the electric bike (that looks like a scooter). Here’s the website:

I would also check with your DMV and do some more research. So you might be able to get one. =)
